8/5-8/10: Southern Gothic Retreat
Anybody wanna tell spooky stories in Savannah? Come on down for a southern gothic writers retreat with Daniel Wallace (Big Fish), Alex Dawson and me. Only 10 spots available. We'll tell ghost stories all night…
WHAT: SO GO in SAVANNAH! Stay in the “8th Most Haunted Hotel in the World” (USA Today) and Write/Workshop Southern Gothic/Speculative Fiction in “America's most haunted city” (Travel Channel) with “horror-drunk storytelling virtuoso” (Time Out New York) Clay Mcleod Chapman (The Pumpkin Pie Show), acclaimed author Daniel Wallace (Big Fish), and Rutgers University Creative Writing professor Alex Dawson (Deep in the Jeeps of Georgia). Daily workshops, topical talks, craft exercises, one-on-one mentoring sessions, nightly readings of participant work, and group excursions to evocative points of interest, like Colonial Cemetery aka “Paranormal Central,” considered the most haunted location in Savannah.
WHEN: Aug 5 (arrive by late afternoon) - Aug 10 (depart early/mid-afternoon). Note: Daniel Wallace arrives evening of Aug 7.
LIMITED TO ONLY TEN PARTICIPANTS! If you're interested, e-mail Alex at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) ASAP (w. the subject heading “So Go in Savannah!”)
WHERE: Savannah, the oldest city in Georgia, and one of the most haunted cities in the country. We'll be staying/workshopping at the Marshall House, whose history as a hospital during the Civil War (and through two yellow fever epidemics) make it easy to believe the many rumors. Frequently featured on the Travel Channel's “Haunted Hotels,” Marshall House has been named one of “11 of The South's Most Haunted Places” by Southern Living and the “8th most Haunted Hotel in the World” by USA Today. It was recently highlighted in the Huff Post article: “6 Hotels with Super Disturbing Pasts”
